| Heckler und Koch SL8 is a German semi-automatic 5.56 mm carbine from modern times. The weapon went into production in 1998 and is still in production today. The total length of the weapon is 98 cm, and the barrel is 51 cm long. The weight of the weapon with a full 10-round magazine is 3.9 kilograms. Heckler und Koch SL8 is a modernized and civilian version of the G36 assault rifle from the same manufacturer. In relation to its protoplast, however, it has several important changes, which make it often classified as a "stand-alone" structure. First of all, it has a pistol grip and a "full", not a tubular, stock. In rifles exported to the USA, only 10-round magazines are also used. The optics identical to the one used in the G36 are also not mounted ex works. Besides, both carabiners differ slightly in dimensions and weight - depending on the version. In the course of production, several versions of the Heckler und Koch SL8 rifle were created, among which you can indicate, for example: SL8-1 (chronologically the first version exported to the civilian market in the USA) or SL8-10 (version that can use Remington 0.222 ammunition). |
