| Soviet Goryunov SG-43/S+L10:M30GM heavy machine gun
This Soviet World War II machine gun was chambered for the 7.62x54mmR cartridge, and was introduced in 1943 as a replacement for the older M1910 Maxim machine gun. This gun was mounted on wheeled mounts, tripods and armored vehicles. After the war, the SG-43 was improved and modernized with dust covers and a new barrel lock, as well as a splined barrel to improve cooling. At that time it was given the designation SGM (M for "modernized"). There was also a tank-mounted variant known as SGMT. |
