| Delahaye Type 103 is a French fire truck from the interwar period and World War II, but also after the war. Probably only a single copy of this unusual vehicle was created, which entered service in 1939. Its total length was 8.35 meters, 2.2 meters wide and 2.58 meters high. The drive was provided by a single 6-cylinder engine with a capacity of 3.6 liters. The Delahaye company was founded in the 1840s, and from the end of that century it was involved in the production of luxury cars, but also agricultural machinery and firefighting equipment. In general, however, it can be assumed that the vehicles produced in Delahaye's plants were almost always characterized by very high quality, technical refinement and certainly did not compete in the market with their price. One of the atypical vehicles that were created in these plants was the Delahaye Type 103, adapted to the role of firefighting, sometimes commonly known as the "Great Ladder". It was created on the orders of the Principality of Monaco for the local fire brigade and was equipped with a 26-meter steel ladder. It was from her that he took his nickname. Currently, this unusual car is exhibited in one of the French motoring museums. |
